In July this year, the LGIU trialled interest in an Economic Development Learning Network (EDLN)  for local government members and officers with responsibility for economic development and regeneration. The proposal was made because of the enlarged responsibility in local government for economic development and regeneration put forward in the SNR and the devolution of responsibilities, particularly for tackling worklessness, currently underway.
